Restoring old houses
is our lodestar
By coincidence, when we where visiting the nature reserve Billudden, we discovered red houses on the other side of the Sågarbo bay. It turned out to be the Sågarbo manor estate and it was in a terrible condition. Several roofs looked like planetariums and you could see the stars through the holes in the roof.
However nothing could stop our enthusiasm for this 17th century estate built by Anckarström, the same family associated to the assassination of Gustav III, king of Sweden 1792.
We have established a tourism business and our main target groups are fishing- and eco-tourism
Sågarbo is located in a UNESCO biosphere reserv and one of our greatest joy is to restore the old buildings and create the cultural environment. Ongoing discussions to reintroduce red listed butterflies and to plant flowers for bees and butterflies are some of our activities for biological diversity.
